Sao Paulo, July 31st, 2018 – Costa Tavares Paes Advogados announces the expansion of its Labor Department with the arrival of Cristina Buchignani. The firm also announces the promotion of Mariana Paranhos Malhães da Silva Lemos to partner.
New partner Cristina Buchignani is recognized in the areas of individual and collective Labor and Social Security law and reinforces the Labor Law team of the firm.
Cristina has worked as in-house counsel to Brazilian companies and law firms and has extensive experience, among others, in advising clients on labor aspects of corporate restructuring projects , compensation and benefits; the hiring of senior executives and foreign employees; projects involving adjustment of working hours; shutdown programs; legal audits and due diligence; negotiation and legal support for collective bargaining agreements andstrikes; training on matters of Labor Laws and lectures on the subject.
Cristina is a member of the Brazilian Bar – Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro Sections; the Brazilian Institute of Social Law Cesarino Junior and the Brazilian Chapter of the “Societé Internationale de Droit du Travail et de la Sécurité Sociale.” She is recognized as one of the best lawyers in Brazil in the area of Labor Law by The Legal 500 Latin America. She is fuent in English.
Mariana Paranhos Malhães da Silva Lemos has been in Costa Tavares Paes Advogados for 8 years and works in the areas of Corporate Law/M&A, contracts, Corporate Governance and Compliance. Mariana is a graduate of the Rio de Janeiro State University – UERJ, with a postgraduate degree in Civil and Labor Procedural Law by the Escola de Magistratura da Justiça do Trabalho do Rio de Janeiro – EMATRA/RJ. During her career, Mariana was responsible for relevant cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructuring, assisting domestic and foreign clients. Mariana has been recognized as a leading lawyer in her field of activity by professional publications. She is a member of the Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro Sections of the Brazilian Bar and is fluent in English and French.
