The Federal Senate approved, on 26 August 2020, the conversion of the Provisional Measure 959/2020 into law (“Law”), but rejected the postponement of the entry into force of the General Data Protection Law (“LGPD”), which was provided for in article 4 of that Provisional Measure.
The Law will now go to the President of Republic who must sanction or veto the Law within 15 working days.

Also on August 26, 2020, the National Data Protection Authority (“ANPD”) was created, through Decree nº 10.474 and now we await the appointment of the directors and the other members of the ANPD.
